Australian International Auto Show 2012 Update: Lexus Debuts LF-LC Blue Concept (VIDEO)

Lexus showcased their brand new LF-LC Blue concept vehicle at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney on Thursday.

The unique Opal Blue exterior was first inspired by the color of the rare opal stone found every so often in Australia Lexus stated in a press release.

"For decades, Lexus has been synonymous with hybrid drivetrains, superior build quality, comfort and reliability," said Tony Cramb of Lexus Australia at the auto show. "With the LF-LC we now reinforce our design and technology credentials. The LF-LC is absolutely stunning. Its good looks mask some very exciting design and engineering innovations that will influence Lexus vehicles in the future."

Some of the new aspects for the LF-LC this time around include a stretched out, yet lighter body that will respond quicker to a specific driver's ability and reaction time.

The car also includes an Atkinson cycle combustion engine that is attached to an innovative energy battery pack according to the press release. The new energy battery pack will provide more power to the vehicle from a smaller battery than currently used in most Lexus hybrid models.

"LF-LC is part concept, part reality," said Cramb. "The concept hints at what's to come from Lexus, while the reality has us actively studying how we can engineer and build a vehicle like this in the future."

The interior's color arrangement has been changed slightly compared to previous models to accompany the new Opal color better.

Inside the new Toyota includes two 12-inch LCD screens that will control many features like the audio system and navigation assistance. The screens are also equipped to inform the driver how much fuel or battery power is remaining as well.

The vehicle's glass roof is lighter than last time as well, with a glass-to-glass connection which according to the press release was inspired by modern architecture.

The company feels the LF-LC is the most "powerful hybrid car they have ever produced" and feels that it could help pave the way for how other sports cars are designed around the world.
