Amphibious Quadski Vehicle To Be Released Worldwide By 2014 (VIDEO)

Gibbs Sports Amphibians Inc have announced that they are hoping to sell their revolutionary Quadski vehicle worldwide by 2014.

The one person vehicle drives on land similar to a quad or ATV, while also serving as a boat once placed in the water. It is being billed on the company's website as the first amphibious vehicle to go over 10 mph on water.

The Quadski features top notch all-terrain tires and a BMW Motorrad K1300 engine to give it a boost in power. While out on water, the BMW engine is paired with Gibbs custom water jet propulsion system. The Quadski can reach speeds of 45 mph on both land and water, a stunning feet in itself.

All that is required of owner to convert the Quadski from quad into a boat is by pressing a button according to the company's site.

The most advanced feature included on the vehicle is the independent coil spring and hydraulic damper suspension. It helps give drivers a excellent ride and handling on land and when the owner wants to use the vehicle in the water the wheels retract to the side. This process only takes four seconds to five seconds.

The overall width of the vehicle is 5.2 feet and the length is 10.5 feet.

Owner Alan Gibbs launched the ground-breaking company 16-years-ago after completing the first amphibious car according to Times Colonist. The first Gibbs vehicle was a three-seat Aquada completed in 2003. The vehicle never went on sale unfortunately.

The all-terrain vehicle will be on sale in the U.S. by the end of 2012 and can be purchased for $40,000. Worldwide release is expected sometime in 2014.
