Chevrolet Continues Record-Setting Sales Year, Will Launch 25 New Cars In 2013

Chevrolet announced a 3.1 increase compared to 2011's record-breaking third quarter on Tuesday.

According to a press release issued by Chevy, the company has sold more than 1.25 million cars worldwide. This marks the eight quarter in a row where the company sold a record number of cars.

In the U.S. alone, the company sold 485,721 cars. This is an increase of over 2 percent compared to sales this time last year. The company owes a good portion of the increase in sales due to vehicles such as the Chevy Cruse, Volt and Spark.

In China, 152,906 Chevy's were sold, which is a 3.7 increase compared to last year. Brazil saw a 13.5 percent increase as 182,906 cars were sold this past year.

Russia saw the largest increase in sales, which were up a drastic 28.8 percent compared to last year, selling 58,453 units. The company is hoping to continue the growth in sales by introducing seven new cars there in 2013 according to the press release.

The company saw a slight increase in sales in Mexico, as they sold 44,387 cars there in the third quarter.

"Chevrolet is connecting with more consumers around the world thanks to the strongest product lineup in the brand's history," said Chris Perry, Chevrolet vice president of global marketing in the press release.  "Chevrolet will continue to build on this momentum by introducing 25 new products around the world in 2013."

The Chevy Cruze has been the best-selling vehicle for the company this year so far, as it has sold 1.65 million units since being released.

The company has big plans for 2013 as they have already announced they will release 13 new Chevy models will be released in the U.S. next year. These models will include the all-new Silverado pickup trucks, SS rear-wheel drive sedan, and the new Impala. The company has also announced they will be launching a new Trax sport-utility car in the U.S. as well.

In certain locations like Thailand, Chevy will be releasing a new mid-size SUV Trailblazer and Colorado mid-size truck.

Even though Chevy has a reputation for being an American brand, 60 percent of overall sales are completed outside of the U.S according to the press release.
