2017 Chevrolet Malibu Review: What's Good And What's Bad About This Family Sedan

The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu debuted this year and is one of the favorites when it comes to family sedans. The car is said to be excellent within its scope. This particular model is also comparable to the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, in fact, the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu can also compete with the Mazda 6.

The front-wheel-drive Sedan's roofline seems to slope down but it doesn't affect the rear headroom at all. The 111.4-inch wheelbase also allows lots of legroom for all occupants, front and rear. The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu comes with L, LS and LT variants. These are all powered by a 163 hp 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that is turbocharged. It is important to note at this point that the new Chevrolet car is a hybrid.

How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu Cost?

The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu price starts at $22,555 for the L and goes as high as $26,000 for the LT variant. If one wishes to throw in the Chevrolet Driver Confidence package, it will go as high as $28,000, dash some change worth $895 for the Convenience and Tech package.

What's new with the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu?

Not much has changed from the previous year's model but the manufacturers have crammed in a new nine-speed autobox in the higher models, this replaced the previous eight-speed last year. Car buyers can also throw in an $875 Sport package accessories which can be availed via the mid-level LT.

Other Chevrolet Malibu changes are the addition of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on top of the standard 7.0-inch touchscreen, but these are only available in LS and LT models. Both Chevrolet sedan models come with Teen Driver technology to ease the worry of parents.

2017 Chevrolet Malibu: Pros

The seemingly boring look has been refreshed into a contemporary-styled sedan. Safety is also bumped up and proved to be more helpful than irritating. In addition, Car and Driver mentioned that the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu drives with confidence as it is now tuned to get the most out of its light but stiff chassis. It has solid brakes, precise steering, properly tuned drivetrains and polished power systems. All these on top of an affordable price, the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu is a must-have for those who seek a new family sedan.

2017 Chevrolet Malibu: Cons

The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu Sport package is just an option, which makes buyers frown since they have to add up some cash to get it on the car. Some people would also prefer the paddle shifters over the plus/minus rocker on top of the shifter. A-pillars also need a little workout as it seems to be too thick, some might find it blocking their line of sight.
