Xbox Project Scorpio is scheduled to launch by 2017. Speculations about the upcoming Xbox console are still circulating all around, most especially on the internet. This month, Phil Spencer replied to a tweet about the upcoming video game console assuring that nothing about its specifications had changed since day one.
The query came from MasyerGaming, asking if Microsoft will keep their promise of a 6 Tera Flop GPU for Project Scorpio specs as opposed to the rumors that it will drop to 5. Phil Spencer gladly replied that nothing had changed since they announced the specifications for their upcoming gaming console.
On top of that, the Xbox head also said that its console will not be competing against the PS4 Pro. As reported on Zenexp.com, the reason why it will not compete with the 'mid-gen' console from Sony is that Xbox Project Scorpio will be better than the PlayStation 4 Pro.
Digging deeper, this statement may probably be taken as an implication of Spencer's statement about Microsoft making plans for Xbox users, not to cater other consumers. Xbox Project Scorpio is reported to feature the latest generation of 4K console gaming. This is something that is never seen before, not even with the PlayStation 4 Pro which has 4K resolution enabled natively.
Xbox Project Scorpio Price
Phil Spencer talks about Project Scorpio price and how he wants it to be at a console's price range as opposed to a premium price. He also emphasized that he does not want the upcoming unit to compete with high-end rigs.
As of this writing, only time will tell if what Spencer wants with the price range will be realized as the specifications sound premium from a present standpoint. So, at this point, it will be safe to say that Microsoft Xbox Project Scorpio will cost between $399 and $1,000. This is too broad, but it is also too early to tell as Microsoft only tagged the entirety of 2017 as their release window.
