Tesla Dominates Owner Satisfaction Survey, BMW One Of The Biggest Losers, Consumer Reports Say

Nine of 10 Tesla owners would "definitely" purchase another vehicle from the same brand, given the chance to do it all over again, according to the Consumer Reports' Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey. Tesla's 90 percent beat Porsche by 7 percent, a very significant margin in the industry.

The top four brands, Subaru, Audi, Porsche and Tesla, have dominated the list of top cars since 2015. Meanwhile, Lincoln moved from the top 21 to the top 12. Hyundai also took the 13th spot coming from a low 24th place finish last year. The two brands are this year's top jumpers, according to the survey.

The numbers are determined by brand satisfaction that has at least a couple car models from the 2014 to 2017 date range. The models are then examined. According to the said report, the satisfaction rating for a certain car brand says "straight average."

Car Brands that didn't quite make it

This year, Fiat got the lowest satisfaction rate among all the 29 auto brands surveyed. The brand got a low score of 53 percent of owners willing to buy their car again, given the chance. Following Fiat, Acura and Infiniti also had very low scores that barely made it to 60 percent.

The highest drop belonged to Ram, at 70 percent, falling from the top 5 in 2015 to 17th this year. BMW also fell to 14th from 6th. Volkswagen went further down to 23 from 14. Acura ILX also had a fair share of losses as it was deemed to be the "least-satisfying" car. The magazine called it "a pricey, dressed-up Honda Civic."

Lincoln got a rank 12 with a 73 percent rating based on the survey. Ford got 15th with 72 percent. Meanwhile, General Motors got No. 9 with Chevrolet at 73 percent. At No. 11, GMC got 73 percent too, followed by Buick at No. 21 getting 68 percent. At No. 22 in best cars is Cadillac, which got 68 percent.
