Amidst the long, hard work that has been put into the Tesla Model P85+, the Tesla Model S P100D racecar will finally be used for the 2017 Electric GT Series, an all Tesla racing event with 10 teams, each with two drivers already confirmed.
The 2017 Electric GT Series is nearing its first season and wants to start with the best technical base. Thus, after six months of working with the Tesla Model P85+, the electrical event promoter has decided to take a leap in quality and switch to the most powerful version of the Mosel S range, the Tesla Model S P100D racecar. Now the Tesla Model S P100D racecar will be use as a basis for the 20 racing cars needed.
The changes to the Tesla Model S P100D racecar will not be easy, but is not impossible, and all the work that has been done in the Model S P85+ will not be wasted. In fact, almost all the work done on the Model S P85+ will remain at the level of chassis, cockpit, installation of the FIA roll cage and cooling.
The Tesla Model S P100D will also undergo a number of modifications including an outer aerodynamic package with a rear spoiler, racing brakes, adjustable suspension and signed-by-Pirelli slick tires. In addition, up to 500 kilograms will be removed from the car compared to the standard version.

The Electric GT series will begin in 2017 and the first season will consist of seven races with 10 teams and 20 drivers in the Tesla Model S P100D racecar. Each race will fall on a weekend with a 20-minute training session, 60-minute qualifying session and 60-kilometer race for both night and day.
Eight drivers are already said to be competing and driving the Tesla Model S P100D racecar. They are Tom Coronel, Vicky Piria, Dani Clos, Alice Powell, Leilani Münter, Stefan Wilson, Tom Onslow-Cole and Ricardo Teixeira. This does not imply that all will compete in 2017, but they are in the portfolio for the teams. The organizers have received 400 pre-registrations of motorists ready to drive the circuits that will be included in the series. This includes Montmeló, Nurburgring, Paul Ricard and Estoril.
