The 2017 Alfa Romeo Alfetta is now confirmed. After the successful launch of the Giulia in the middle segment, this new sedan will fight in the large segment using the same platform, and wants to directly target the 2017 BMW 5 Series. Alfetta was once the name of a great premium sedan back in the '70s and '80s, so the revival of the model is highly anticipated.
It is worth noting that the 2017 BMW 5 Series has been a success in the U.S. market. It takes the style back to the large sedan segment and offers cutting-edge technology. Now, Alfa Romeo is ready to fight back as it readies its 2017 Alfa Romeo Alfetta, according to NSEAVoice. Other competitors it seeks to target with the vehicle are the Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class.
At first, it was rumored that the Alfa Romeo Giorgio would be the name of the car to battle the 2017 BMW 5 Series. But it turns out that Alfa Romeo settled with the 2017 Alfa Romeo Alfetta, a name that was used by the brand in the 1970s and 1980s as mentioned above.
The 2017 Alfa Romeo Alfetta is said to have the same platform as the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the new sedan Propulsion of the brand, which will also inherit its engines. Mechanically, it includes 2.2-liter diesel engines with an output of 136, 150 and 180 hp, and uses six cylinders. Its gasoline engines have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 200 hp, while its top-of-the-range engine is the 2.9 V6 twin-turbo 510 hp.
The 2017 Alfa Romeo Alfetta top range would be a direct rival to powerful versions of 2017 BMW 5 Series like the BMW M5 or Audi RS6. Both vehicles can reach 600 hp or may even overcome this barrier in the case of certain versions like the RS6 Performance. Additionally, it is believed that the range might also have a hybrid version.
All this information points to a future neck-and-neck battle between the similar cars. Meanwhile, you can get an idea of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Alfetta in the rendering photo below made by Renna Design and posted on Carscoops. We are already loving it.
