2017 Kia Niro Sets Guinness World Record For Lowest Fuel Consumption; Will This Economical Car Be A Bestseller? [VIDEO]

The 2017 Kia Niro set a Guinness record for most economical car after it consumed 48.5 gallons of gas over 3,715.4 miles from the Los Angeles City Hall to the City Hall of New York. This makes the 2017 Kia Niro the most economical car in terms of fuel consumption in the whole world, and the record has set this hybrid vehicle apart from all other cars in the segment.

The 2017 Kia Niro was first unveiled at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, where it impressed audiences. A hybrid vehicle with its own platform, the very low fuel consumption was attributed to its unique hybrid system that enables it to perform better than its competition.

Aside from the outstanding economy, the 2017 Nia Kiro looks stronger and more athletic than other hybrids. It has driver assistance features, a Harman Kardon audio system, excellent infotainment system, and safety features, according to Chicago Auto Show Blog.

For the critics of the 2017 Kia Niro, being included in the Guinness World Records is not really a great feat, and with a little extra effort, they say other carmakers might be able to achieve the same thing. There are rumors that receiving the award involved manipuilation to ensure that the demand for the car would increase, according to Auto Blog.

Powered by a 1.6-liter-four-cylinder and 43hp electric motor, the 2017 Kia Niro has six-speed, dual clutch transmission instead of a traditional CVT, according to Car Scoops. The company aspired to build a car that looks great, useful, and boasts of frugal mileage, while Kia would say the Guinness Record is proof of the company's success.

With the sale of the 2017 Kia Niro at hand across the United States, one cannot blame the company for being suspected of manipulating the award as part of its marketing strategy. However, the fact that the company has built a car that consumes such an unbelievably small amount of fuel is a great feat, regardless.
