Honda Headlight Recall Reaches 820,000

If things looked bad earlier this week when Honda announced they would have to recall 573,000 Accords over fire hazard issues, things got even worse on Thursday.

The auto company announced that they would be expanding their March headlight recall to over 820,000 vehicles.

Cars that were added to the list now include Honda Civics made in 2002 through 2003 and Honda Pilot made in 2004 through 2005 sold and purchased in the U.S.

Honda announced that the issue is with the wiring of the headlight switch. This issue could caw low-beam headlights to not work. The company announced a similar recall in March of this year when they found issues with the 2002 through 2004 Honda CR-V's and the 2003 Honda Pilot.

Honda dealers will inspect all vehicles and if necessary they will replace the components of the headlight wiring system to make sure no problems happen in the future.

Amazingly, the recall wasn't even the biggest one for Honda this week.

The company said on Monday that they were forced to recall over 573,000 Honda Accord V6 models in the U.S. due to defective power steering hose issues. The problem could leak fluid and potentially start a fire under the hood f the car. This recall affected models from 2003 through 2007 model years that are furnished with V-6 engines.

Toyota has quite a history with recalling cars, as they were forced to recall 3.8 million vehicles in Sept. of 2009 after a defect caused a high-speed crash that killed four people. Since 2011, the automaker has had to recall 1.5 million cars in the U.S. due to many different issues.

Honda will be issuing a notice to Accord owners in regards to the recall telling them about the problem and what their options are. If an owner of the vehicle even suspects that his or her car has a problem, they have been advised to take the vehicle in to a dealership to be inspected.
