The 2018 Lucid Electric Executive Sedan prototype will be unveiled in Dec. 14 at the prototype shop of Lucid Motors, formerly known as Atieva, in Fremont, California. The said executive sedan will challenge Tesla as the leader in the electric sedan segment. In preparation for the beginning of its production, Lucid Motors has started building its factory in Casa Grande, Arizona.

The 2018 Lucid Electric Executive Sedan boasts of 100-kwh with a motor that produces 1,000 horsepower and can travel 300 miles without the need to have its batteries recharged. The lithium-ion battery packs, which will be supplied by Samsung SDI, will be able to withstand repeated fast charging, according to Green Car Reports. The battery capacity and power of the 2018 Lucid Electric Executive Sedan is believed to be equal to that of the Tesla Model S, which it could one day challenge in the market.

Engineered by Peter Rawlinson, formerly chief engineer of Tesla S Models, it is expected that he will take electric cars to the next level. Rawlinson was heard comparing the 2018 Lucid Electric Executive Sedan to a four-wheeled executive jet, according to Fortune.

The company plans to make 10,000 models of the 2018 Electric Executive Sedan in its first year of operation and increase production to 60,000 over the next three years. The first models to be released will be priced at $100,000 each, and it is expected that more Lucid cars will be made four to five years after, which will be sold at $65,000, according to Forbes.

During the unveiling, members of the media that were invited to witness the event will have a taste of the 2018 Lucid Electric Executive Sedan as they will be given free rides. The difference of the riding experience, compared to that of Tesla S, will spell out which executive sedan maker will dominate the segment in the future.
