2017 Prius Prime, a plug-in hybrid vehicle built by Toyota Motor Corporation and slated to be released in 2017, will be the recipient of PHV Connected Power Service offered by Toyota and five other Japanese power companies. The said service was designed to promote plug in hybrid vehicles for a greener and safer environment that is free from pollutants released by diesel and gasoline-fuelled engines.

The 2017 Prius Prime will be installed with a DCM or data collection module, which would record the amount of electricity, charged at home, the electric vehicle cruising mode, and other pertinent data to be provided by Toyota to the participating companies. These companies will give points to the customers, and these points can be used to pay customers' electricity bills or to exchange them with some products, according to Toyota.

But the rewards that can be received by customers driving the 2017 Prius Prime can be overshadowed by the enhanced user experience of a plug in hybrid car. Like any other electric vehicles, the 2017 Prime Prius comes with a battery pack, charging ports, and an 11.6-inch touch screen. The five Japanese power companies that collaborated with Toyota in offering the PHV Connected Power Service for the 2017 Prius Prime were the Chubu Electric, Kanasai Electric, TEPCO Energy, Shikoku Electric, and Shikoku Electric. These companies will be supplied with data coming from the 2017 Prime Prius DCM while customers may check the data gathered online, according to Carwale.
