Making a first appearance in its production form at the 2016 Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki Ignis is one of the most anticipated launches in the hatchback category for 2017.
Indian automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to unveil the long-awaited Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Baleno RD, and a facelifted version of the Ciaz in 2017. These vehicles will be up for grabs through the automaker's Nexa outlets next year.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis Price, Launch & Specs
Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be the automaker's newest entry in the premium hatchback category in India. Recently, The Financial Express detailed what the India-spec version could bring to the table in terms of design, specs, and price.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis: Design
Maruti Suzuki Ignis bears a striking resemblance to the WagonR, as far as the tall stance is concerned; however, Maruti Suzuki Ignis still retains its own identity. Considering that it will be sold through the automaker's Nexa outlets, the overall design is likely to boast an array of premium elements such as chrome accessories, projector headlamps, and LED Daytime Running Lamps. Moreover, the blackened out A, B, and C pillars will give Maruti Suzuki Ignis a floating roof appeal.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis will also sport big, bulging wheel arches --- giving it a big car effect. Higher variants are expected to have full wheel covers over steel rims, while the top-end version will have alloy wheels to intensify its premium appeal.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis: Features
Maruti Suzuki Ignis is expected to hit Nexa outlets with premium features including a touchscreen infotainment system identical to the Vitara Brezza, Baleno, and other Maruti Suzuki models.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis: Price
Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be positioned below the Vitara Brezza in the Maruti SUVs segment. Being a crossover alternative for the Swift hatchbacks, Maruti Suzuki Ignis should bear a similar price tag, according to CarWale.
Other reports suggest Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be sold for about INR 5,50,000 (about $8085). Nonetheless, Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be well worth the money spent on it --- given the fact that it will compete against the likes of Mahindra KUV1OO and Hyundai i20 Active. The automaker is expected to officially announce the Maruti Suzuki Ignis' price in Q1 2017.
