Hordes Of World War 2 Cars Discovered In French Quarry [VIDEO]

Vincent Michel stumbled upon a French quarry, and found an entire stash of World War 2 cars that are beyond repair. The theory is that they were hidden there during the war to protect them from the Nazis.

Michel is a Belgian PE teacher and photographer. He took excellent images of the cars which are now pure rust. The cars include Peugeots, Citroens and Renaults. All of the vehicles were neatly parked in lines. It is possible that a number of the cars have already been damaged before storage, although it can also be a simple case of theft where their parts have been scraped off and sold. Michel's photos can be seen on Fox News.

It is noticeable that not all vehicles were World War 2 cars. Perhaps it was the owner of the quarry who added vehicles later on, including a seemingly blue 1960 Opel Kapitän with its paint still quite intact. According to the Daily Mail, the cars are over 70 years old.

Michel shares that the quarry owner was able to sell some of the vehicles at an auction, but most of them remain inside because moving them may only lead to further damage. He does not know why nobody has retrieved them over the years. Would it be that whoever put them in there simply forgot about the World War 2 cars? The exact location of the quarry is kept confidential.

When recalling the experience, the 56-year-old admits that it felt like an impossible phenomenon. He says that it felt nostalgic, as if he was taken back to the past. "It was an unbelievable experience and I really hope to find a similar place in the future," Michel confesses.

Michel was astounded by what he found. For him it was truly a rare glimpse of what life has been for the French people during the Second World War.
