Electric vehicles have become all the rage for the future. E-mobility transcends from the previous models and car companies are developing their own electric vehicles. Ford released their Ford Focus Electric which can hit 100 miles, Nissan released Nissan Leaf last year which can reach 107 miles, and Chevrolet will be releasing its Chevrolet Bolt EV in 2017 which is built to run up to 200 miles. The era of electric vehicles has come.

BMW announced their upcoming electric vehicle BMW i3 which is set for release this 2017. The new BMW i3 is built with an increased potency of lithium-ion battery. The increase in battery power allows the electric vehicle to increase its range from 81 miles to an estimated 114 miles. According to Car and Driver, BMW i3's lithium-ion battery is packed with high energy density cells which can yield a 33.0-kWh capacity. A downside to this new development is the new battery of BMW i3 is heavier, increasing the overall weight to 2961 pounds.

The new BMW i3 2017 will have a boost of electric vehicle range, increasing its efficiency while decreasing its electric consumption down to 27 kWh per 100 miles. Auto Blog even hinted that the new BMW i3 is expected to have a 50 percent increase in power, even reaching a maximum of 165 miles. BMW i3 2017 will have an increase in fuel capacity from 1.9 to 2.4 gallons. The move to increase the gasoline-powered range in contrast to its electric vehicle range will have an impact on BMW's status as a car manufacturer in producing zero-emission vehicles.

Although big changes are presented with the new BMW i3 2017, the car company claims that the new electric vehicle is virtually unchanged. To reach 60 mph, it would still take seven seconds, and for ones with range-extender, it could reach the intended mileage in eight seconds. BMW i3's new battery is fully charged in 4.5 hours, which is one hour longer than its previous model which has a 22.0-kWh battery.

New features are also added with its interior designs. BMW i3 2017 will have a sunroof and an updated software responsible for real-time traffic information, climate control, iDrive, dynamic cruise control, keyless access, telematics assistance, navigation and park-distance control. BMW i3 2017 price will be announced soon and is expected to be released early 2017.
