The Highlander franchise continues to prove its immortality time and again; a new Highlander movie is supposedly in the works. The movie will reportedly be a reboot, instead of being a continuation of the original movies.

A series with a theme of cult following, the original Highlander movie was a fan-favorite classic. While the TV series and the anime movie is well-received by fans of the series, movies that followed the original one happened to be received negatively --- even for majority of the franchise's fandom.

According to Geek Exchange, the Highlander movie reboot's new director is none other than Chad Stahelski. Both a stuntman and a director, he claims that he actually cares about the original material; it makes movie expectations so much better; especially since one major problem with movie reboots is the lack of love for its source material --- no thanks from whoever happens to be assigned in directing the film.

As posted on Cinema Blend, Ryan Reynolds, famously known for his portrayal of Deadpool, was originally planned to play Connor Macleod for the Highlander reboot. For some reason though, he left the planned film years ago --- leaving the seat vacant for the next Connor Macleod in Highlander's reboot.

The only one who confirmed and hasn't backed out from the project yet is former WWE superstar-turned-Hollywood superstar Dave Bautista, also known as Batista. Batista portrayed Drax in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and is set to reprise the role in next year's sequel. Batista is casted to play as The Kurgan in the upcoming Highlander movie reboot.

With a new director already on the way, the reboot is now expected to make actual progress. But whether the reboot would live up to the first Highlander movie or not, it remains to be seen.
