It looks like rumor mill has not ceased churning speculations around the purported Microsoft Surface Phone; new claims about the device's internals are doing rounds online, hinting that the much-anticipated phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor.
Rumors surrounding the device have been running rampant in the past few months, stirring speculations among tech enthusiasts regarding the Microsoft Surface Phone release date, specs, and other details.
The Redmond-based tech giant is allegedly calling the handset "Panos Phone" internally. The device is also likely to oust Microsoft's much-lauded Lumia lineup.
In addition, the Microsoft Surface Phone is likely to support Quick Charge 4.0 --- aside from packing Qualcomm's all-powerful Snapdragon 835 processor, which is also rumored to power the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone, according to Nokia Power User.
The publication cites a week, in which Microsoft's chief executive Satya Nadella nearly confirmed that a brand new mobile device is in the works. He nearly spilled the beans about the rumored phone in an interview with Australian Financial Review.
Reliable sources also revealed to NPU that Microsoft is currently gearing up to debut the Surface Phone in a slew of different configurations, which is the standard pattern in smartphone development. If this comes to fruition, either the 4GB or 6GB variant won't see the light of day.
Alternatively, Microsoft could come out with various levels of RAM --- paired with bevies of other specs, like Windows computing hardware.
The prototypes are powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor; the 6GB variant is expected to run X86 apps through Microsoft's Continuum mode. The 4GB variant, however, can't do this, Trusted Reviews reported.
On the other hand, unnamed sources claim that Microsoft Surface Phone's release date is not likely to be before the end of 2017 as it will be powered by Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3, contrary to previous rumors suggesting it will come with Redstone 2.
