The 2016 Ghostbusters movie has been a major flop for its own good. But just like an evil ghost who wouldn't rest in peace, a sequel might be in development right now.

Director Paul Feig appears not to have learned his lesson; while he was reluctant for a direct sequel after the first one went down the drain, as months went by, he has again expressed interest, especially with reuniting the main cast.

While a Ghostbusters movie sequel is already being planned, producer Ivan Reitman is still mum about it and hasn't mentioned any actual details regarding the supposed sequel. All he had mentioned is that, as reported on MovieWeb, "There's going to be many other Ghostbusters movies, they're just in development right now," quoting Reitman itself.

There are even no updates at all regarding the supposed animated movie, which is expected to feature completely different characters that, hopefully, aren't in the same mold as those in the recent movie.

Sony Pictures still hasn't made any announcement yet, although it would most likely be hesitant to risk funding another possible failure --- despite its claims that movie sales weren't really that bad, as well as several reliable sources seeming to indicate that it was indeed a financial bust, as reported on Breitbart in detail.

There are several factors that could have attributed to its failure. To name some, straying away from the source material, mocking the original fanbase, bad marketing that relied on controversy, and most importantly --- shoving the politically correct agenda into everyone's face. It has nothing to do with the gender-swapping, but more on enforcing certain ideals.

Since there aren't any exact details at the moment, anyone could just hope that the sequel would be a reboot of the 2016 version instead, which was a far cry from the original Ghostbusters. Otherwise, the proposed Ghostbusters movie sequel is better off staying in development for all of eternity.
