Lamborghini has recently filed a patent for the name Aventador S, which greatly implicates that a Lamborghini Aventador S is on its way. The application took place just the other day at the European Union's Intellectual Property Office. Judging from the name alone, it appears not to be a new variation for the Aventador; but instead, a re-designed and upgraded replacement for the latest version.

The Lamborghini Aventador S is anticipated to be first shown at the Geneva Motor Show Spring next year, along with other cars from Lamborghini. The very first Lamborghini Aventador was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2011 and currently, has released up to seven special editions.

The Aventador S is predicted to have a 6.5-liter V12, which is the same as regular cars; but the power output is expected to be increased at 20kW, compared to its based model, according to Motoring's website. Its estimated total power would clock at around 535kW/690Nm.

Changes to its bodywork and cockpit are contemplated, as well as its upgraded electronic components. The most interesting of all is the estimated extra 20-40 horsepower, which is quite a kick in its output, as CarScoops reported on their website. This means, approximately 720-740 metric horses are also expected; placing it along the lines of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 720-4 50 Anniversario or even the Lamborghini 770-ps Centenario special, if not the Lamborghini LP750-4 SuperVeloce.

A deep front splitter, large new wing, and more aggressive aero are expected to be included as well. It would most likely adopt styling cues from the Lamborghini Aventador SV, which would further differentiate the Lamborghini Aventador S from its predecessor.

While the Lamborghini Aventador is having an upgraded version, the return of other trademarked Lamborghini cars like the Diablo still remains to be seen.
