After so many years of waiting, Sony Computer Entertainment has finally announced the release of "The Last Guardian", and fans of game developer Fumito Ueda are ecstatic about the long-awaited game's release. It is set to launch on PlayStation 4 on Dec. 6, 2016 after almost ten years.
To build hype for its arrival, Sony is releasing a teaser trailer which is only 30 seconds long but showcases a side of "The Last Guardian" that will make gamers wanting for more. The action is fast-paced and visceral, showcasing a lot of chasing coupled with traversals across precarious environments. While some of the gameplay features the child protagonist alone, it also focuses on how he can work with Trico to conquer other difficult challenges. Throughout the game, there's an air of mystery that lends itself to all of Team Ico's projects so well, according to GameRant.
"The Last Guardian" is an RPG game where the player controls a young boy who befriends a giant half-bird half-mammal creature named Trico. The player must manipulate Trico like a real pet should, like luring it with food and reaching high platforms and across remote places while evading guards that are after both of them. The story is expected to be emotional and deep, although there will also be some moments of comedy, GAMENGUIDE reported.
Team Ico and Fumito Ueda had been developing the game since 2007 and it was planned to be released in 2011 exclusively for PlayStation 3. It did not push through as the game suffered numerous delays and hardware difficulties. Ueda and other Team Ico members also departed Sony, although Ueda remains as the creative consultant and director of Sony's internal Japan Studio handling the game's programming and technical aspects.
"The Last Guardian" was released last November 6 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Pro in North America and Japan and the game will become available worldwide on December 6.
