The Toyota racing team made history last Sunday night as it brings home its first title in NASCAR, which was held at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This gives highlight to Toyota getting a manufacturer title for the first time over Chevrolet's 13 consecutive championships and winning splash.
Toyota Motor Sales' Vice President of Integrated Marketing Operations Ed Laukes was excited to share that the organization deems it as its greatest achievement to steal and bag its first manufacturer's championship title.
The success is made possible through Toyota Motor's partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing and Furniture Row Racing. After the course of 13 seasons, it is a milestone for Toyota to end up as a different car maker and bring home the crown for the said series. According to MOTORSPORT's blog report, Laukes is also proud to highlight that all efforts of every Toyota racing team's member are well-recognized, who were the reasons of realizing the aspiration to make a history for the company this year.
During the competition, the amazing performance of Kyle Busch, who ended up in sixth place at the Sprint Cup Series finale, signals the light for Toyota to finally get and bring home its first-ever title in the Manufacturer's Cup series after joining the competition for 10 seasons.
Sixteen Toyota drivers got the first rank out of the 36 races for this year's season; two of them were able to pave their way to the crown, ending Chevrolet's reign in the series and stopping their attempt to add another championship crown after bagging 13 consecutive titles.
Twelve out of sixteen wins of the Toyota racing team came from Joe Gibbs Racing, while the four first-place awards are made possible by Furniture Row Racing --- despite being a newbie to the team and the Cup.
Moreover, Chase Elliott got the "Rookie of the Year" award, NEWSLETTER LOG blog reported.
Indeed, the title is Toyota's biggest surprise yet as 2016 comes to an end.
