Is The Second-Gen Chevy Cruze More Than A Match For Rival Toyota Corolla?

When it comes to purchasing four-door, non-premium compact cars today, the choice often narrows down between the Second-Gen Chevy Cruze and the Toyota Corolla. The latest Chevy Cruze model was first announced in late 2015 and released some time this year. Now, several months after its initial release, it has already proven its worth to be more than a credible rival to the Toyota Corolla.

One factor is the pricing. The Second-Gen Chevy Cruze has a base price of around $17.850; according to the pricing mentioned at the Carscoops website, making it quite accessible to the budget of most car buyers. Meanwhile, the Toyota Corolla currently has an estimated base price of around $18.500 --- making the latest model of Chevy Cruze slightly more affordable compared to the slightly older model of Toyota Corolla.

When it comes to safety features, whoever has the upper hand on the Chevy Cruze versus the Toyota Corolla rivalry is yet to be determined. Only released recently, the Second-Gen Chevy Cruze has yet to undergo several more crash-tests; as opposed to the already tried-and-tested Toyota Corolla, which has been in the market for quite some time now. According to information posted at the Car Connection website, the latest Chevy Cruze features blind-spot monitors, lane-keeping assist, and forward-collision warnings.

Design-wise, the Chevy Cruze was redesigned when the Second-Gen model was released. Those who prefer a more crisp and a more modern feel to their cars would definitely prefer the Second-Gen Chevy Cruze. Meanwhile, even though the Toyota Corolla was last redesigned in 2012, it didn't lose its daring and edgy touch for those who prefer their cars to appear as such.

While there is still no clear outcome to the Second-Gen Chevy Cruze versus the Toyota Corolla rivalry, the latest Chevy Cruze model shows just enough potential to surpass the Toyota Corolla.
