Hyundai To Surprise Customers With Shuffled Crossover Portfolio

Will Hyundai customers be treated to a new lineup of crossover in the next few years? It appears so as the company is planning to add more car models on the lowest tier of the range. In addition, repositioning of some crossovers is foreseen to adapt with the current trends in the motor industry.

Dave Zuchowski, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, already hinted on the upcoming changes. The only question now is how the reshuffling will be executed and if there will be a surprising change to the crossover range.

This was done after statistics show that there is a decline in sedan purchases within the last few years. According to Dave, it will help Hyundai fulfill its promise and the customer demands for crossovers and its range.

"It's a game-changer for us," Dave Zuchowski said in a statement. "It's not just adding new vehicles, it's doing a better job of positioning a family of CUVs," he added, via Cage.

The first model to mark shuffling on Hyundai's range of crossover is the new B-segment, slated to roll out in 2018. An A-segment crossover, which is expected to drastically change Hyundai's crossover lineup, will immediately follow the B-segment crossover. Meanwhile, compacts such as Santa Fe and Tucson will experience recasts, according to Hyundai Motor America.

But in order to live up to the crossover lineup, existing models such as the Tucson and the Santa Fe will have to undergo some minor changes in order to fit the bill. Hyundai said that Santa Fe, for one, will have to go bigger and transform into an eight-passenger crossover to fit the lineup. And to make the deal even sweeter, it will also pack more 'personality' and power into the package --- much like the strength and ruggedness of certain brands like Jeep.

Tucson, on the other hand, will receive fewer modifications, but also have to expand in terms of size but will keep its sleek design. The changes will reflect in 2020 and the company is also expected to venture into alternative energy to fuel its cars on the same year, Autonews reported.

So far, there is very limited information about these changes. Reports say some names will be replaced in order to avoid confusion with the Hyundai crossover models.
