Apple iPad Air 3 Release Date, Specs, Price & Rumors Round-Up [VIDEO]

Much to the dismay of avid iPad fans, Apple did not announce a much-awaited successor to the iPad Air 2 and rolled out the 12.9-inch iPad Pro instead. If rumors are anything to go by, Apple is gearing up to launch a successor dubbed as the iPad Air 3 this year.

Meanwhile, a slew of other reports suggests that the device will hit the store shelves early next year, particularly in March 2017, with a slimmer and sleeker cosmetic appearance as compared to its precursors, according to a rumor website called iPad Air 3i.

Aside from more color options, the Apple iPad Air 3 is likely to feature an iPhone 7-like camera with features such as dual-lens, Apple Pencil support, HD 4K screen display, and 3D Touch. However, the iPad Air 3 would mark the final rollout in the Air branding, according to a report from MacWorld.

Although none of this has been confirmed by Apple, some critics claim that the company will get rid of its Air line, citing the deferred release of the device.

Another reason why the tablet range might be canceled after the iPad Air 3 release is that Apple tablets are unlikely to garner a huge customer base as more and more consumers nowadays are turning to tablet-like smartphones instead. Aside from that, the devices' steep price tag also staves off interested buyers.

Rumors are running rampant, indicating that the Apple iPad Air 3 will be a curtailed version of the iPad Pro and it will be a smaller 9.7-inch variant. However, the device is likely to boast an array of upgraded features including an A9 processor, coupled with at least 3GB of RAM.

It remains to be seen if the Apple iPad Air 3 will come with the same stellar features as the iPad Pro or it will remain as a regular iPad. Regardless, the iPad Air 3 is said to feature a comparatively better display than its precursors.

As far as storage is concerned, Apple is likely to come out with a basic storage design offering of 16GB and 32GB. The iPad Air 3 will be up for grabs with a base price of $610 (basic model). The difference in price is based on the amount of storage space.
