Rumors running rampant about McLaren and a purported Hyper GT back in July, stirred conversations among car fanatics, mainly because it was speculated to be a cutting edge translation of McLaren's F1.

Despite McLaren head honcho Mike Flewitt earlier debunking multiple times speculations hinting that such a model was in the works, the British automaker has officially confirmed that The Hyper GT a.k.a B23 is indeed happening.

This is without an iota of doubt a colossal step on part of McLaren as it marks the manufacturer's first foray into the hypercar segment. In addition, McLaren is said to have signed off on the B23 and getting one of the most lauded features of the McLaren F1; a three-seat configuration.

Not too long ago, Gordon Murray, a designer of F1 race cars and the McLaren F1 road car told WIRED that he would keep most of the F1 design as it is. He notes that it accommodates three people and equivalent luggage as a conventional hatchback.

During a recent press release, Flewitt confirmed that the B23 will adopt the iconic three seat layout along with the central driving position popularized by the F1.

Regrettably, these are the only tech details worth mentioning as there aren't too many to share in the first place. That being said, McLaren did unravel a teaser photo of the car giving car buffs a sneak peek at the aforesaid three-seat layout as well as central driving position, Topspeed reported.

McLaren is likely to keep rest of the details under wraps until close to the car's launch date, which multiple reports claim is 2018. The delivery of the first model is expected to commence in early 2019.

McLaren will be making just 106 models, the exact number of models the manufacturer produced of the F1. Moreover, each and every of the 106 models is rumored to be already accounted for.
