It is slated to have its first race in January 2017 at the Daytona Rolex 24 competition. It derives its name Mazda Road to 24, which signifies the laddered training program for drivers who possess talent in car racing while the P stands for Prototype.
Built by a world-renowned maker of cars that uses the KODO or Soul of Motion philosophy, the racing car has been excellently designed and engineered. The Mazda RT24-P sleek lines make it look like an animal that is ready to pounce with all its strength.
It is powered by Mazda MZ-2.0T engine which was used for the race car entry of the company in the 2016 IMSA racing. This 600 horsepower, turbocharged engine possesses exceptional speed and endurance.
With its Riley Mk.30 chassis made by Riley Technologies, a company that boasts of 99 wins and 0 championships, the prototype is expected to bring another victory both to Mazda and Riley technologies.
Extensive testing of the prototype car revealed that it is not just very fast but also highly reliable and because of this, the Mazda team is highly confident that the car will grab the championship in the Rolex 24 competition, according to Concept Carz.
To strengthen its chances of winning car racing competitions, Mazda also offers a scholarship to drivers who have won in local car racing competitions to hone their skills for major national and international events. It is estimated that Mazda will be spending close to $15 million for 53 driver scholars, according to PR Newswire. Drivers' skills are enhanced through two systems - the Mazda Road to 24 and the Mazda Road to Indy.
