It's no secret that 2016 has been quite a frustrating year for Samsung, thanks to the controversy-plagued Galaxy Note 7. It's imperative for the South Korean company to come out with an impeccable Galaxy Note 8 in order to win back the trust of their huge customer base. Probably, bearing this in mind, Samsung has opted not to unveil their new smartphones at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) trade show slated to take place in February 2017.

It looks like those anxiously waiting for the Galaxy Note 8, will have to hold back until as late as April 2017 for the highly anticipated reveal. Meanwhile, Samsung is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to eliminate any sort of complications before the smartphone actually hits the store shelves. In addition to this, Samsung is planning to add an AI (artificial intelligence) driven virtual assistant that can be launched with just push of a button, The Wall Street Journal reported.

If this comes to fruition, the aforesaid button will be placed on the side edge of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The virtual assistant based on AI will reportedly be identical to Apple's Siri. Apparently, Samsung intends to fuse the AI assistant program on their wearable devices as well as their home appliances, according to Reuters.

Interestingly, the AI assistant will enable users to access third-party services. According to Samsung executive vice president Rhee Injong, developers will be able to attach and upload services to their agent. Although Samsung does not do anything by itself, as more and more services get attached to this agent, it gets smarter, learns more new services and even provides them to end-users without breaking a sweat.

Without-a-doubt, the addition of an AI assistant on Galaxy Note 8 could help Samsung amend the damages done to its reputation amidst the Note 7 fiasco. More details regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are expected to surface online in near future.
