A 2017 Jaguar F-Type with a diesel engine was spotted testing with a diesel engine four-cylinder 2.0-liter that is expected to offer about 300 hp power near Royal Leamington Spa, not far from Jaguar’s headquarters in Coventry. The driver is no other than Mike Cross, head engineer of Jaguar and Land Rover.
The unit in question was registered in April 2016, as they found when searching the enrollment database of Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency, however, proof has then been deleted, according to Auto Car. This same British registration plates also revealed that for months a number of F-Type testing cars with a gasoline engine four-cylinder has been used by Jaguar.
Some time ago the auto world began to speculate that Jaguar could launch a 2017 Jaguar F-Type diesel but over the months we thought that the brand had rejected this idea. However, this new spy photo revives the hope of a Jaguar sports car with a diesel engine.
However, Jaguar that is testing an F-Type diesel must not necessarily mean that there will be a diesel variant. It is possible that it is a kind of testing evidence and that the real reason for these tests is that of installing a gasoline engine Ingenium four-cylinder with 300 hp more that will debut in the 2017 Jaguar F- Type. Like what Porsche did, but with a boxer engine in the Porsche 718 Boxster and Porsche Cayman 718.
"We do not discuss out future product plans. However, we have said we are expanding our product ranges. As a result, there are many Jaguar and Land Rover development vehicles and technologies being tested at any one time. We have nothing further to add at this stage or desire to comment on the speculation with regard to future potential models." said a Jaguar Land Rover spokesman.
More information will be revealed next year as the newly upgraded 2017 Jaguar F-Type will officially be reveal and who knows one might find a diesel engine in its lineup. For now, what's sure is that a new entry level price of the Jaguar will be available, according to Automobile Mag.
