Porsche nabs World Champion title during the recently concluded Shanghai World Endurance Championship last Sunday. The Porsche team has taken the lead with 308 points compared to the Audi with 238 points and Toyota with 137 points. Along with this title, Porsche is now celebrating its 13th manufacturer's World Champion position in the field of endurance racing.

The winning crew of Australian Mark Webber, German Timo Bernhard and Kiwi Brendon Hartley started hot right off the gates and dominated for most of the Sunday race. They have consistently made swift and smooth rounds ever since the opening lap. However, according to these drivers, it was not an easy race. Bernhard had to thrust with great efforts during the third stint to pass through teammate Marc Lieb. On the other hand, Hartley had to push through the entire first stint to create a wide gap between other race cars.

Toyota came second as it was able to surpass other race cars except--of course, the first--Porsche. The Toyota drivers had their tires double-stinted through the second stint. Because of this, it allowed them to pass through the second Porsche team.

The Audi, which was driven by Duval, Di Grassi, and Jarvis, initially came out as second placers, but it eventually failed to retain this position due to delays while refueling on the first pit stop. The Audi had continuous problems with its refueling since it failed to receive a full load. This then led them to attain only the 5th position in the race.

Another Audi team finished at the 6th place, following its fellow Audi drivers. CLM-AER P1/01 drivers attained the 7th position, after getting ahead of Rebellion-AER R-One who had engine problems. In the LMP2 category, Oreca-Nissan 05 dominated by finishing 8th in the overall race. The Ligier-Nissan JSP2 followed behind by finishing in the 9th place.
