A new four-door 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT 4 is reportedly going to be previewed before its official debut next year. The concept will be part of AMG’s 50th-anniversary celebrations and will aim to kill the Porsche Panamera success.
There seems to be no stopping the all-new Porsche Panamera. The second-generation model came out with a much nicer design and the variety of powertrain options tailored to have the best performance. But it seems that Mercedes is planning something to stop its domination and will overtake the Panamera in all aspect.
So far there are few details known about this new and future Mercedes model except that it will be based on the next generation of the Mercedes CLS and mimic the appearance of the signature GT sports star, especially in the power section.
The different is inside, where the GT4 will be equipped with four seats and enough room for four adults, something that departs from what the now generation of AMG GT has, but is consistent with the CLS sedan. Under the hood, however, while the Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera offer different engines - both gasoline and diesel and even hybrids - the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT 4 will focus on a power unit high performance and will have a V8 4.0 liters Biturbo with power outputs of 500 and 600 hp, according to Carscoops.
It will inherit a lot of pieces from its two-seater brother, including brake system and suspension of the next generation E63 AMG. One can also expect a system of adaptive air suspension, dynamic support for the engine and an electronic locking differential, among other things.
Everything indicates that new Mercedes-AMG GT4 will debut next year. The company will celebrate next year the fiftieth anniversary of its sports division AMG, and that this celebration will leave the presentation of the new model, according to NSEAVoice.
Reports also said that it will find offer two variants, which will be the Mercedes-AMG 4Matic GT4 and 4Matic GT4 S. It may arrive in dealership early 2019 and will be at a price range between $150,000 to $200,000.
