Porsche Sales Rise Worldwide; Boxster, 911 Biggest Sellers

Porsche increased its global sales by 16 percent in July, seeing gains over July 2011 in every sales region. 12,391 units were sold, bringing the total number of sales so far this year to 81,562, a 14-percent increase over the same period the previous year.

"Porsche continued on its successful sales course in July with a strong gain in deliveries. We are confident that we will attain solid global growth figures over the rest of this year as well, despite economic uncertainty in Europe," Bernhard Maier, sales and marketing executive with Porsche AG, said in a statement.

Worldwide, the Boxster experienced an especially large increase last month, with 1,235 sold, a 58-percent increase over July 2011. Another strong seller was the 911 with 2,079 cars sold, a 25-per cent increase.

In Europe, Porsche saw a 25 percent increase over the previous year's July, with 4,594 units sold. This includes 1,694 sold in the brand's domestic market of Germany, a 31-percent increase over the previous year. Year-to-date sale in Germany are 22 percent higher than the same period last year, with 11,230 sold.

In North America, Porsche saw July increases of 3 percent, with 3,339 sold, bringing year-to-date sales to 22,538, a 4-percent increase. In the USA, sales were 1 percent higher than the year before, at 2,803. Year-to-date sales are 5 percent higher than last year's, at 19,253.

In the Asia-Pacific sales region, Porsche experienced a rise of 17 percent to 4,458 vehicles. So far this year, 28,406 Porsches have been sold, an increase of 17 percent over the same period last year. In China, sales rose 18 percent to 2,936 vehicles.
