First and foremost, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is an all-wheel drive vehicle that was inspired by the brand's transverse MQB platform, which was a collaborative effort of the VW and Golf along with the new Tiguan model.
The base engine of the model will be powered by 2.0L, turbocharged I-4, which can generate up to 238hp. There will also be an option to choose the 3.6L engine, which will be an aspirated VR6, which could generate 280hp which is the most competitive choice with respect to market competition.
Both of these engines were accustomed to the eight-speed automatic though the 4motion all-wheel drive may only be availed of from the VR6 version, according to Motor Trend.
The six-cylinder-powered prototype was said to be a crossover of up to gravel-road speeds with reasonable authority with two people riding the vehicle. Furthermore, the interiors were deemed to be roomy and have a third-row plus second-row seats. Its dimensions were lodged at 77.9 inches which are like that of the Ford Explorer and the Nissan Pathfinder.
Pricing for the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas has not been confirmed by the company but will probably be ranked similarly to that of the Ford Explorer and the Honda Pilot - two its best competition in the market, according to Jalopnik.
