2013 Nissan Juke: Changes and a Special Edition

Nissan has announced changes to its Juke model, as the mini-crossover goes into its third year of production.

The Juke will continue to have as standard its 1.6-liter direct-injection gasoline turbo, 16-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy inline 4-cylinder engine. This engine produces 188 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Nissan will continue to offer the optional torque-vectoring AWD system that the company says reduces understeer and increases cornering.

In addition, the navigation package on the Juke SV now has a rearview monitor and a Rockford Fosgate EcoPunch audio system; a system that is now standard on 2013 Juke SL models.

The 2013 will also be offered in three additional colors: Atomic Gold, Brilliant Silver, and Pearl White.

Buyers of the 2013 Juke S, SV and SL models also have the option of a special "Midnight" edition that features 17-inch black wheels, a sapphire-black rear roof spoiler, and sapphire-black mirror caps. The Midnight Edition has an MSRP of $1,200 dollars, which the company points out is $500 less than if each of these options were purchased separately.

"The Midnight Edition Juke stands out by its subtlety," Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager of the Nissan division of Nissan North America, said in a statement. "The combination of black-on-black-on-black wheels, spoiler and mirrors gives JUKE a dramatic new look, which we think enhances its already bold styling. We expect it to be a very popular addition to the Juke lineup for 2013."

Nissan has yet to announce a price for the 2013 model. The 2012 has a base price of $19,990 for the basic S model.
