Anderson Cooper is vacationing in Croatia, and is rumored to have thrown Ben Maisani out of his converted Manhattan firehouse, and called off their (again, rumored) engagement.
Maisani, 39, who owns the Manhattan bars Eastern Bloc and Bedlam, was photographed kissing a man who was decidedly not Cooper in a public park. The photos were leaked in the Mail Online a few days ago.
The pair were well known to be a couple long before the CNN anchor and talk-show host came out of the closet as gay last month.
They have been widely reported to have an open relationship, but this conflicts with more recent reports of Anderson being livid and hurt by the photo's content.
"Ben runs with a really fast crowd in New York, and Anderson always knew that his boyfriend was exposed to hot young gay men at his bar. But he also believed he could trust Ben to remain faithful," a source reportedly told the Enquirer. "He's absolutely devastated."The New York Daily News's Gatecrasher reported earlier this week that the pair do have an open relationship, but that the embarrassment associated with the photos had Cooper furious.
Whatever his relationship status, it is known via his Twitter account that Cooper is in Croatia. He has tweeted photos of a sunset and of himself and fellow talk-show host Kelly Ripa appearing like they're on vacation.
The Mail Online and the Daily News both report that Bravo talk-show host Andy Cohen is hanging out with them. The Mail believes Ripa's husband Mark Consuelos is also there.
Media reports conflict on the sequence of events.
The Daily News reports that Cooper went solo on what was supposed to be a romantic getaway after the photos were leaked.
But a source told Life & Style Magazine, "Anderson was with Ben in Croatia when he was told about the photos. They were on a yacht. They flew to Croatia on August 11, one day after the photos were taken. Anderson's upset -- who wouldn't be?"
According to the Mail Online and other media outlets, there have been rumors that Cooper and Maisani were planning a Labor Day wedding at the urging of Cooper's mother, heiress and designer Gloria Vanderbilt.
