Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy: Web Says She’s a Creepy Stalker With a Death Wish

So, your 18-year-old son (who's still in high school) is dating a 22-year-old.

That 22-year-old is a singing star with a vast media following and an admitted habit of writing songs about her ex-boyfriends (John Mayer, Taylor Lautner, Joe Jonas).

And now that 22-year-old has just put down almost $5 million dollars on a house right across the street from the property that has been your family's summer home for three generations.

Are you weirded out? A lot of people on news site message boards say you should be.

First, the details.

Taylor Swift - multi-Grammy-award winning singer of "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me" - has reportedly been dating Conor Kennedy, 18, the son of Robert Kennedy Jr and Mary Richardson Kennedy, whose highly-publicized suicide (following highly-publicized DWIs and a highly-publicized marital breakdown) occurred earlier this year.

According to People (and many, many other sources), Swift brought the Kennedy kid to Nashville to meet her parents; while she - according to the Boston Herald (and everyone else) has spent time this summer at the famous Kennedy compound in Hyannisport, Cape Cod.

She has reportedly delighted the Kennedys, and they - and Hyannisport - have evidently delighted her right back. People got direct confirmation that Swift purchased last week a 13-room house with seven-bedrooms and five-bathrooms for $4.9 million. The house is across the street from Conor's grandmother Ethel's house.

As the Herald said, "Ya think Taylor is setting in for the long haul?"

Sadly, she probably won't have possession of the house before it's time for Conor to go back to boarding school.

Among a plethora of message-board posters across numerous news sites, disagreement didn't center around if Swift is bonkers so much as why.

On the New York Daily News message board - whose readership has a reputation for not taking kindly to liberals - "Indievoter999" wrote "I fear that something terrible will happen to this girl within the next year. She should know better than to date a Kennedy."

"Waugh" wrote "Why would any woman go near a Kennedy? Ugh, Taylor RUN AWAY now!!"

"Frances" wrote "Too bad Taylor got herself mixed up with the infamous Kennedy Clan. I hope she doesn't end up in an early grave as a result of this. The Kennedys are fuelled by booze, drugs, sex, and ego and it's a combination that has killed many of them and many an innocent bystander."

But while posts tended to have an anti-Kennedy bent, there were a number that expressed the sentiments of "Gigi67", who wrote, "I would be extremely worried if someone I just started dating bought a house next door to mine. This girl has crazy stalker written all over her. Just ask John Mayer."

"Foghead" wrote, "Watch out Kennedys, this girl will write a song about your boy Conor if he screws with her!"

On the Huffington Post's message board, the scales were tipped toward the idea of Swift showing excessive, um, eagerness.

"jmbsjy" wrote, "Wow! A stalker with lots of money to spend."

"Fred Derf" wrote, "She's a great singer, but this sounds a little creepy."

"Garry Carlson" posted "It sounds to me like Taylor Swift has turned into a 'stalker'! Time for some restraining orders!"

"glory25420" wrote, "I guess when the boy goes away to college, she will have to buy a house across the street from his dorm."

And "Stephen Thorpe" speculated at some length on Swift's personality and relationship patterns. Part of his post read, "My thought is that she may be like a manic-type personality.....extreme highs and hard lows. Right not it's fairytales and Camelot dreams....but she's acting like a stalker and she's already smothering the kid and his family. Once she crashes then it'll be nasty."

Readers took less interest in the story on USA Today's website, but those who did were more evenly split about whether it's Swift or the Kennedys who should run.

"Keith Turrill" posted, "If Taylor is going to start hanging with the Kennedy clan she probable [sic] needs to start advance planning for a treatment center"

"Shelli Paulk" wrote, "Jeez, girl, slow your roll. You just started dating this guy."

On ABC News's website, there were those who were anti-Kennedy, like "Dr O", who wrote "Those who become involved with the Kennedys often come to a bad end...Perhaps she can avoid the curse, perhaps not..."

More shared the view of "Stevereeno", who wrote, "I can see the skit on Saturday Night Live, the poor kid Conor, he can't get away from her. I mean, what makes a male head for the hills faster than stalker girl?!"

Several agreed with Stevereeno's sentiments, and also predicted that, however the relationship between Swift and the kid turns out, she's going to write about it.

Tanya wrote, "She paid five million bucks for a love shack so she can have time with an eighteen year old kid. In a couple of months she will put a song out about him after he dumps her."

"Tim C" wrote, "This makes her appear needy and clingy. Perhaps that's the reason she has bad luck with relationships. Whatever the outcome there will be a hit song."
