Audi's premier wagon has improved. It may not come with a flashy new look. However, its performance definitely won't disappoint.
The car has shifted into a front-wheel drive car. The 2017 Audi A4 Avant Sport Wagon remains a wagon, it should not be mistaken for an SUV cross-over.
It is now 8.8 pounds lighter. Plus, it has an additional "off-road" driving mode option.
This wagon is intended for a select-loyal market. Audi's A4 product manager, Anthony Garbis was quoted, "The Allroad is a low-volume vehicle that has a very limited target audience. We don't make a lot of them, but our buyers are passionate about them.
The carmaker is hopeful that the upgrades for its 2017 edition should increase sales. It now boasts a new design. The buyers can also choose a bi-color body finish.
The underbody part has been reinforced for off-road terrain. The roof comes with a raised roof rail.
It comes with $44,000 price tag. There are premium packages to choose from as well. The technology package comes at an additional $3,250.
First is the Premium Plus package. This one will cost a buyer an additional $3,000. This will give you a high-end sound system. The intelligent parking system and LED headlights come with this package as well.
The Driver Assistant Package is also available for $1,800. The premium options don't end here.
The Prestige package comes at $7,400. This will be a bundle of the Technology Package and the Premium Plus Package.
The maximum price it will cost a buyer comes at around $55,575. This is already inclusive of the $950 delivery fee.
It now has a 2.0 TFSI turbocharged engine. The estimated power output is around 252 hp with a 273 lb-ft torque. It now has a 7-speed transmission, according to AutoWeek. This version is more fuel-efficient.
The EPA rates are expected at around 23 mpg in the city, and 28 mpg when on the highway. The average will be at 25 mpg combined.
What is the new "Quattro" and "Ultra Tech System?" The Quattro system refers to a multi-plate clutch and a de-coupler. This will mean a 100% power acceleration for the rear or front wheels.
This just means that Audi's pre-sense system will be deactivated. Once you are about to approach a rock or tree the sensors will remain on. The suspension will adapt to the terrain you're driving against.
The 2017 Audi A4 Avant Sport Wagon all in all doesn't disappoint. This one is not intended for high-volume production and sales. This is the carmaker's reward to a loyal few that continues to patronize their wagon.
