Randy Travis Arrested for Naked DWI and Threatening to Shoot State Troopers

Country and gospel singer Randy Travis has been busted for DWI in Texas, in his second alcohol-related arrest in six months. Only this time, he compounded his troubles by threatening to kill the state troopers.

The Grayson County Sheriff's Department told gossip site TMZ that they responded last night to a call about a man lying in the road. They arrived at the scene and found that Travis's 1998 Pontiac Trans Am had crashed into several construction barricades.

The cops put the naked Travis into the police car, which is when he added to the charges against him by saying he was going to "shoot and kill the Troopers working the case." This constitutes "retaliation", the Texas cops said.

Travis was given a tee-shirt to wear for his mug shot, and a "paper suit" to cover his lower half. The mug shot shows him to have a black eye and several abrasions, which police say he sustained in the car crash.

TMZ reported this morning that Travis had been released from police custody as of 11:45 AM ET.

In February, TMZ reported that the singer was arrested in Sanger, Texas for public intoxication after he was found drinking in front of a Baptist church.

Travis, 53, has released no less than 20 studio albums, and has won six Grammys and six Country Music Awards, among his numerous accolades.

His albums include You and You Alone (1998), in which his friend Patrick Swayze sang backup, This Is Me (1994), and Blessed Assurance (2011).

Last year, he accepted Michelle Bachmann's invitation to perform at the Iowa Straw Poll.
