The Jeep Renegade maker have recently issued a statement with respect to a viral YouTube video that showed the vehicle was hazardous when hard brakes were maneuvered. The company concluded they are currently investigating the demonstrations that showed the brakes for the vehicle may be malfunctioning and can cause tremendous harm to the driver. Yikes!
A YouTube video was uploaded by km77.com that showed two Jeep Renegade vehicles showing signs of malfunction with respect to its hard brakes. The video showed both the Green and Red cars parading through concrete when, all of a sudden, the driver hard-braked the vehicle. It manifested that such would elevate the rear tires, those that were said to be the European-spec versions.
What The Car Company Has To Say
As reported by Jalopnik, FCA released an official statement to address the matter. The statement was as follows: "The Jeep Renegade, which features Electronic Roll Mitigation and Electronic Stability Control as standard equipment, meets or exceeds all mandated safety requirements. The Company is investigating the circumstances surrounding these demonstrations."
Which Versions Showed Hazardous Hard Brakes?
The uploader manifested that the Jeep Renegade vehicles used in the test drive were European-spec cars that have distinct features, particularly the drivetrain, compared to those sold in the US market. In fact, it was manifested that the two versions of the vehicle ran quite differently such that the European ones had a stickier standard tire.
It was not apparent what type of rubber was installed in red Jeep Renegade but the green one was revealed to be that of the Bridgestone Turanzas version of the franchise, according to the YouTube uploader.
In fact, in the uploader's official website, a 2015 Jeep Renegade owner named Gonzales manifested that he had a prior experience with the brake hazard. In fact, he said the body of the vehicle leaned forward when it ran. However, when the brakes were stepped upon, the vehicle elevated that the rear wheels were said to be on the air already.
How Is The Vehicle Doing In The Market Today?
In other news, The Daily Knoxville also reported that the sales for the 2017 Jeep Renegade have been leading in the market for two months since it was released. However, according to recent data, it has been overtaken by four rivals and was knocked out from the top spot.
It was revealed that the Jeep Renegade lost a total of 17.2% in sales recently and was only able to sell 6,776 units. Was the decline in sales triggered by the alleged hard brake malfunction? Will the vehicle be recalled due to the presumed defect?
