Tesla is set to start Tesla Model 3 production by July 2017. The Toyota Prius announcement did not disappoint on-lookers. General Motors with its Chevy Volt, is confident that it will win over some Tesla Model 3 early birds.

What is good about them?

Tesla Model 3
It boasts of a 200-mile drive change, when fully charged. Good old five-passenger seat sedan with two-cargo space. The users will have access to Tesla's high-speed charging network. The design is obviously aesthetically abetter than most budget EVs. |
2017 Toyota Prius Prime
It is a hybrid. It can range for up to 44 mpg. |
Chevy Volt It is a hybrid. You still can count on fuel should you be unable to charge. |
What is the bad side?

The release date kept getting pushed back. It is now realistically expected by late 2018. The deadline for suppliers has been set to July 2017. Only then will they be able to actually build the car. |
It is not fully electric. At almost the same price as the Tesla Model 3 - you will still have to pay for fuel. |
Sadly, the mid-rear seat is almost not usable. It is cramped and not meant for long-legged individuals. It looks like it was meant to seat kids in the back. |
Overall Verdict
The one that turns out to be promising still hasn't been released yet. If you're in dire need of a car there are the predecessors available for the other two hybrids presented. Five years from now it will only be 2021. It is almost a decade ahead of the Global initiative of phasing-out fuel powered cars by 2035. It won't be a loss should you opt for these hybrids.
