Mercecdes-Benz Out To Dominate Formula-E Racing

As the future generation prepare for the fame of electric cars, here is Mercedes-Benz saving a spot for the upcoming FIA Formula E Championship season five. The said reservation is good for years 2018 and 2019. What will the German automaker bring to the table then?

 The CEO of Formula E, Alejandro Agag, recently announced that they have consigned an agreement with an option to join the FIA Formula E Championship race for season give. In fact, Toto Wolff of Mercedez-Benz echoed Agag's statement with respect to the race being on the sight for the brand as well.

According to Toto, "Electrification will play a major role in the future of automotive industry." Given that, Mercedez-Benz recently announced they will partake in the upcoming race, reported Motor Trend.

The Race Mechanics

Instead of the two cars per driver, the upcoming FIA Formula E Championship season five installment will only cater to one car per race. For Mercedez-Benz Formula E entry, they have been considered as one of the two team entries along with Renault, Audi, Jaguar, DS, Mahindra, Venturi, Faraday Future, and NextEV.

In other news, The Verge reported that teams are negotiating to expand from 10 to 12 members per team in the upcoming FIA Formula E Championship season five. Although Mercedes-Benz would be joining one of the teams, it was reported to roll out a unique coup from the rest of the vehicles in the series.

Origins

The Formula E series first emanated during the year 2014 which became the hub for electric open-wheel racecars who raced against one another on provisional street circuits in some of the biggest cities in the world.

Apart from Mercedes-Benz, Prosche and Nissan were also reported to be interested with the FIA Formula E Championship season five race which will start on 2018.
