2018 Ford Mustang Spy Shots: American Muscle's New Face And Tail Confirmed

A 2018 Ford Mustang prototype was sighted on a test drive in Detroit earlier. The model was seen to have been given a facelift, particularly with respect to its headlights, bumpers, and its and its updated internal graphics. The updated version was said to form part of the high-end models of the brand. What did Ford have in store for its iconic American muscle car?

Ford Motor Company took out a 2018 Ford Mustang Prototype out of the streets and a spy photographer caught a glimpse of some major exterior and interior upgrades to the model.

As reported by Motor Authority, the 2018 Ford Mustang had brand new headlights whose internal graphics were clearly updated. Furthermore, the lower section of the front bumper took on an A-wing shape of the front splitter.

The Mechanical Changes

Usually featured with a manual transmission, the vehicle was said to have a 10-speed automatic transmission option for its high-end models. The current 6-speed automatic transmission of the 2016 Ford Mustang GT was overshadowed once by the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 whose swiftness was improved due to the transmission and the brand felt that the automatic option would make it more competitive in muscle cars market today.

All changes aside, the report indicated that the six-speed manual version of the 2018 Ford Mustang would also be available on top of the automatic option like its predecessor. However, it would only form part of the standard models.

In other news, Torque News reported that the sixth-generation 2018 Ford Mustang also showcased a deep drop below the edge of its truck which signaled that it will be far faster than its previous versions. The spy shots showed that the back end of the model would be smoother with lesser distinctions from its usual taillights. The said aerodynamics improvement was suggested to also improve fuel economy for the make and model and will significantly raise its performance level.

The brand new 2018 Ford Mustang GTR release date is lodged on late 2017.
