Porsche Recalls Cayenne, Panamera Turbos Due to Fire Threat

Porsche has issued a recall on certain 2011-12 Panamera Turbos, 2012 Panamera Turbo S's, and 2012 Cayenne Turbos.

According to the NHTSA, turbine wheels of a turbocharger may fracture due to a casting defect, leading to a fracture of the turbine shaft.

If this occurs, oil may be drawn into the exhaust system, resulting in the risk of fire.

It is believed that approximately 270 vehicles are involved. Porsche will begin notifying owners this month.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Porsche began looking into the problem after a car caught fire in Syria in October.

The Cayenne Turbo has a price tag of $108,750, while the the Panamera Turbo runs $138,650 and the Panamera Turbo S $175,300.
