Tesla Model 3 Release Date: EV To Be Released In Asia Before North America?

Tesla has set the date for the initial start of production for its most anticipated Tesla Model 3 on July 1, 2017. It expected to start its initial deliveries by the end of next year in North America. Tesla Model 3 release in Asia is expected on a later date.

However, there is a possibility that Tesla Model 3's release date in Asia will be earlier than its North American delivery. This would depend on the realization of a plausibility of contracting a production partner outside its home country.

There were possibilities of delegating the production locally, specially in China, to keep up with the orders as hinted by Tesla President Jon McNeill when he was in China last May. Elon Musk, Telsa Motors' CEO and product architect, confirmed the plans about targeting a local partner for the production facility in the country.

Musk projected a production of 100,000 to 200,000 units of Tesla Model 3 by 2017, reported by Mashable. Musk highly urged eager buyers to place an order as soon as possible, if they want their car by 2018.

China gained the second rank for the number of pre-orders for the Tesla Model 3, as disclosed by Ren Yuxiang, Tesla's Vice President for Asia-Pacific. North America is expected to be first. The pre-orders in China as of last June reached an estimated "400,000," Ren said. "The potential is huge, and Tesla is fully committed to developing the Chinese market," he added.

Last April the US-based car manufacturer launched its Tesla Model 3 on April 1. However, pre-order placements have already begun a day earlier. This will be Tesla's first attempt to reach the mass market. The car's expected price is estimated at around US$ 35,000. In China, a deposit of CN¥ 8,000 is required upon placing an order.

Not to be over shadowed, GM's The Chevy Bolt price, compared to the Tesla Model 3, is expected to start at around US$ 37,495. The two US based manufacturers have proclaimed a silent war on producing the most preferred budget-friendly car for the masses.
