Ford is helping the hungry and its sales, by partnering with Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization.
And it's allowing anyone interested to help as well.
Those who want to help the hungry can get in touch with Ford and arrange to host a "Ford Escape Hunger Drive", whereby guests can check out and test drive the 2013 Ford Escape. For every guest who participates, Ford will donate 40 meals to Feeding America.
Ford and Feeding America expect to provide 1.2 million meals during the program.
"Ford has always embraced helping people in need, and this is a good way to give back to the community, while simultaneously showcasing the all-new Escape," Crystal Worthem, a Ford marketing manager, said in a statement. "For the first time, Ford is linking its charity support with bringing a new vehicle to market."
According to Ford, the company has, in partnership with Newman's Own, provided 103 Ford refrigerated trucks to Feeding America affiliates tduring an 11-year program called Partnership for Hunger Relief. The the trucks have delivered more than 176 million meals to families throughout all 50 states.
"We at Feeding America are proud of our longstanding relationship with Ford," said Vicki Escarra, the charity's president and CEO. "Ford has a history of merging transportation with hunger-relief efforts, and we are grateful they are extending that partnership linked to the 2013 Escape to help us get food to millions of families struggling with hunger."
The events can held anywhere in a community, and can be part of a larger, already-scheduled event, Ford says.
