Lamborghini Already Working On Its First All-Electric Supercar

Lamborghini is now planning to launch an all-electric supercar that will follow the footsteps of the Porsche. Dubbed as the Vitola, the future electric sportscar will make use of the J1 architecture and have a fast charging system as fast as the speed of the car. This is according to a video report from German website Autobild.

A Change Of Plan

Some time ago, when Stephan Winkelmann in still CEO of Lamborghini, sources say that they are not planning an electric sports car. The arrival of new CEO Stefano Domenicali as well as the diesel scandal hunting the automobile industry today, changed the plan of the brand stating that electricity is the future and it will not be uncommon to see hybrid electric sports within a few years.

The Lamborghini Vitola, as it may be called, could be the hyperdeportivo that will premiered electric propulsion in the Italian brand. Apparently, the project has a very viable technical basis, derived from fellow Volkswagen Group: Porsche Mission-E.

The all-electric Mission-E was thought to rival Tesla Model S, however, Porsche is spending a fortune on creating the J1 electrical platform and have already stated that this technology will be much better. This same technology will be use for the all-electric Lamborghini Vitola.

A Possible Vitola

To reach its performance targets, the Vitola should be lighter than the four-door Porsche Mission-E, but it will probably still gain more horsepower to keep it ahead of the competition. The benefits would be an impressive, 0 to see acceleration in just 2.5 seconds and 300 km / h top speed. And while the Porsche Mission-E already produce an impressive 600hp, the possible Vitola is expected to exceed 800hp.

It certainly seems that electric supercars will be here, with the Lamborghini Vitola on plan, mcLaren is already studying a fully electric P1 and Porsche said that the successor to the 918 surely will renounce the combustion engine. Changes are coming and the Volkswagen Group are taking it very seriously!
