2017 Could Be The Year For An Aluminum Ford Expedition

Ford has recently announced that the 2018 aluminum-bodied Ford Expedition is set to be available in 2017. This is part of the latest SUV series that Ford is set to release.

With numerous options for Sports Utility Vehicles, transitioning to a lightweight alloy which extremely reduces the weight of the car can be a major game-changer.

What Is More And What Is Less?

According to Autoblog, the Expedition was heavily influenced by another Ford frontrunner, the F-150, whose current models are already aluminum-built. Rumors have been circulating that the latest Ford endeavor on using lightweight materials might take the market by storm.

The new Expedition will also boast a more efficient EcoBoost V6 engine, as compared to its previous main engine under the hood which is a V8; thus, better performance could be expected from the new model. There will also be lesser fuel consumption as Ford included an electric motor for the SUV to feature have hybrid functionality.

Certain adjustments were made to the exterior of the new vehicle, yet still keeping the well-known Ford SUV look, as reported by Fordcasino.

Interior-wise, improvements can be seen with the combination of aluminum and wood that surrounds the internal design and architecture of the vehicle. Enhancements were also done on its audio and navigation system, as well as adding top-notch technology to add to its beauty.

Possible Release Date

Autoblog stated that F-150 sales have been strong and Ford expects that it could even get better with the help from their newest venture in the form of an aluminum-built Ford Expedition since the material is said to be durable and cost-efficient. However, recent records taken last August 2016 show that GM's Tahoe and Suburban have been overshadowing the sales of Expedition and Lincoln Navigator by an estimated 50,000 units.

Although there has been no specific information about what the upcoming lineup of Ford may be, it is said that they will be launching four all-new SUVs along with the 2018 aluminum-built Ford Expedition.
