Chevy has upped the standard for electric cars segment this year as it unveiled the EPA-certified range for the Chevrolet Bolt up to 238 miles without charging. The said specifications were said to have topped even Tesla Model 3 and those that have not been made available for purchase this year and the next.

Chevrolet Bolt has been announced earlier this year to become available for purchase by the end of 2016. Although the announcement has been made, the car was taken for a test drive from the U.S. Capitol until the Empire State Building without being charged. The results showed that the car was able to reach 238 miles consistently, reported Auto News.

Compared to Tesla Model 3, the Chevrolet Volt topped the electric vehicle by 23 miles ahead. In fact, the said characterization of the model made it the first electric vehicle to be sold in the U.S. market alone that has the capacity of running more than 200 miles without charging and for a cheaper price, less than $40,000 to be exact. Tesla's Model 3 may be on sale at present but it has been deemed far costly and will only be available come 2018.

In other news, Green Car Reports suggested that the 2017 Bolt EV will be available for purchase in the U.K. as well - only that it has greater mileage than those to be sold in the U.S. later this year. In fact, it has been deemed to have better performance than its biggest competition in the region, the BMW i3.

The 2017 Chevrolet may have kicked BMW i3 off the ranks as the most efficient car ever sold in the U.S. with its impressive EPA-certified range of 238 miles consistently without charging. With respect to its efficiency, the unit's battery will take nine hours to charge for it to reach maximum mileage.
