Amy Poehler has every reason to celebrate as the comedian has just won her first ever Emmy statue during this year's Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The 44-year-old actress won her very first Emmy Award, the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series award for her appearance during a 2015 Christmas episode of "Saturday Night Live," which was shared with fellow comedian and close friend Tina Fey, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Prior to her win, Poehler had been nominated eight times in the acting categories. She had never won the statue during the times she was nominated six times for her portrayal of Leslie Knope in NBC comedy series "Parks and Recreation." However, she did win a Golden Globe for the aforementioned role in 2014.

Both Poehler and Fey were not present to receive their awards. Bob Newhart was the one who accepted their joint Emmy award win on their behalf, according to USA Today.

Back then, Poehler would take her Emmy losing streaks with humor and stride. This was proven when she and actor John Hamm threw a party for those who never won a single Emmy award.

"We decided we would test the fates, and we decided one evening, randomly, to have a loser's party," Hamm said during an interview with Seth Myers. Hamm eventually went on to win his first ever award - Best Drama Actor - for his portrayal of Don Draper in the AMC drama series "Mad Men."

Poehler was part of the cast of "Saturday Night Live" from 2001 to 2008. She was the Weekend Update anchor on a news show segment from 2004 to 2008. She and Fey, who also co-anchored the Weekend Update segment from 2004 to 2006, returned for the show's 40th anniversary special to helm the segment once more with fellow alum Jane Curtain.
