The rumors circulating about Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is that the Surface Pen will be updated and will contain a rechargeable battery that charges wirelessly when magnetically attached to the tablet. The laptop would also be a gaming-oriented device that may boost either a NVIDIA’s Pascal or an AMD graphics processor “Polaris”.
It will also have the latest generation of Intel processor called the Kaby Lake and will also come with a 2K screen but there will also be a 4K model. It advertises an upgrade to 16GB of RAM, a USB Type-C port, cameras and other likely components along with the latest versions of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
On the other hand, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Security believes that the 2016 MacBook Pro in its 13-inch and 15-inch appearance will sport an all new design with a “thinner and lighter” build that takes cues from the 2015 (and 2016) MacBook.
Its influence should be seen in the new MacBook Pro adoption of USB Type-C port and Thunderbolt 3 support is highly likely to be provided. Kuo claims that the first OS X device to feature Touch ID Technology.
The 2016 MacBook Pro release date will be sooner than you expect. While it seems possible that the release date will not be this year, Apple launch dates are usually close to each other. Thus, there is a possibility that the device would make an appearance this year.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was initially said to be release this October, however, sources say that it will not arrive until 2017 due to the availability of its Kaby Lake processor from Intel. If this is true, then the 2016 Macbook Pro will already have a huge advantage in its release.
The Surface Pro 4 is pretty expensive, with its entry-level variant costing $899 and its premium version costing $1,599. This only shows that the Surface Pro 5 might be in the same range with its highest version priced at more than $2,000.
Apple tends to keep its pricing similar between generations too so it is expected that the new 2016 Macbook Pro will have the same range of price as the latest version which starts at $1,099 and the fastest at $2,099.
