Apple co-founder Steve "The Woz" Wozniak announced that he will be trading his Tesla Model S for a Chevrolet Bolt EV, as the Tesla simply isn't working out well for him. The announcement was made through his official Facebook account last Wednesday.
It is worth noting that Tesla CEO Elon Musk is the person that urged Wozniak to go electric. After a social media exchange reprimanding Wozniak on why he is still buying gas-powered cars on 2013, Musk convinced him to switch and Wozniak has since then spotted driving a Tesla Model S, hanging out in Tesla Superchargers and even talking about it graciously at his various social media accounts.
All this had changed after Wozniak seemed to take a glance at the Chevrolet Bolt EV, realizing soon afterwards that his luxurious Tesla Model S doesn't really do well for him.
In the same Facebook post of Wozniak that shows himself with a 2017 Chevy Bolt EV, one would catch the comments he is making for those who replied in his post. When one user asked why he is changing his EV preference, he simply replied that there are lots of things going wrong with the Tesla Model S that are done right with the Chevy Bolt EV.
He even goes far to say that people should choose cars based on their ability and not just because the brand is making a buzz.
"A lot of complaints about the Tesla that my wife and I have are solved in this car. It's not just some name where you have to take a side and buy fast. The user conveniences are well thought out and the functionality is great," Steve Wozniak said.
Both the Tesla Model S and the Chevrolet Bolt EV can go up to 200 miles on a single charge. However, the Chevrolet Bolt EV sells for only $37,000, far more affordable than a $100,000 Tesla Model S. The Chevrolet Bolt EV also features ‘one pedal’ driving with regenerative braking functions, which Wozniak adores.
The Chevrole Bolt EV will go in production by the end of the year for deliveries in the United States. Is it time to switch to this rather than to wait for the Tesla Model 3?
